DPI Conversion & Print Requirements Guidelines

DPI: Measures the print density of an image. Setting it to 300 DPI tells printer engines to lay 300 pixels per inch, resulting in a crisp, sharp physical photo (standard requirement for document uploads).

Change Metadata Only Mode: This changes the DPI property stored inside the file metadata headers (JFIF segment in JPEGs or pHYs chunk in PNGs). It completes in milliseconds and does not touch image quality or pixels. This is highly recommended for official recruitment portals that reject recompressed images.

Resample Mode: Changes the pixel grid size. If you have an image and want it to print exactly 2 inches x 2 inches at 300 DPI, Resample mode will resize the pixel width/height to exactly 600 x 600 pixels and set the metadata header to 300 DPI.

Portal Specifications: NSDL photographs require 200 DPI (3.5 x 2.5 cm). RRB requires 200 DPI. US Visa/Passport applications require 300 DPI (2 x 2 inches, i.e., 600 x 600 pixels).
